Kenneth J. Spillman

Kenneth J. Spillman, 65, of Phoenix, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday August 19, 2019.

He was born in Mariemont, Ohio, to Martha (Seibert) and Leo Spillman on Dec. 22, 1953.

Ken owned and operated K&R Seamless Gutters for many years, retiring in 2015.

He was a veteran of the US Navy and served for six years during the Vietnam Era.

Ken was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Dennis Mapes.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; son, Kenny (Amelia) Spillman; daughters, Kelly Spillman, Kimberly (Michael) Mason, Donde Hinton; sisters, Annette (Scott) Myers, Tammy (Ron) Sanders, Debbie Sturgill, Mary Gottgalf, Tammy Spillman; six grandchildren; and several close aunts, uncles, cousins, neices and nephews.

A gathering of friends and family will take place on Saturday, Aug. 24, starting at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Phoenix, 16 County Route 57A.

Burial immediately following at Phoenix Rural Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the American Heart Assocuation, or Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

Carol Smiley

Carol Smiley, 82, of Phoenix, passed away on Sunday August 18, 2019.

She loved life, her home, and her family, especially her grandchildren.

Carol could often be found in her garden, tending to her flowers and watching for hummingbirds.

She was a skilled knitter and also enjoyed crochet.

Carol worked for Upstate Food Broker as a secretary and was responsible for much of the brokering.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years, John F. “Jack” Smiley, in 2001.

She is survived by her children, Andrew Smiley, John (Allison) Smiley, Tina Murray, and Julie Smiley; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Monday, Aug. 26, 4 – 7 p.m., at Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 10 a.m., at St. Stephen’s Church, 469 Main St., Phoenix.

Burial will follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville.

Lucas J. Cleary

Lucas J. Cleary, 40, of Phoenix, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019.

He proudly served in the US Marines and was a dedicated project manager for Upstate Medical.

He took great pride in his work.

Luke had an unmatched sense of humor, loved his family and friends (especially his daughters), a good joke, and his dog, Reese.

The world will be a sadder place without him.

He is survived by his wife, Kristi (Lorah) Cleary; daughters, Ashlyn and Avery Cleary; parents, Dennis (Bridget) Cleary and Vicky Hoan (Roger) Monica; siblings, Leonard (Nicole) Cleary, Michael (Jo-Jo) Cleary, Kimberly (David) Maitland and Patrick Cleary; grandmother, Joan (Don) Winnett; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Aug. 16, at 4 p.m. at American Legion Post 418, 9 Oswego Road, Phoenix, NY.
